Columbus Dental Assisting Program Description
This course is designed to provide an introduction to the profession of dental assisting. The didactic portion will cover topics including Ohio law and ethics, dental terminology, head and neck anatomy, infection control procedures, proper use and care of dental instruments and equipment, dental materials, dental specialties, and radiology.
Students will apply topics covered in the didactic portion of the course in a supervised lab setting. They will also sit for the Ohio approved Radiology class to receive radiology licensure. Total of 40 hours of lecture- completed independently online and 68 hours of laboratory hands-on training, lecture portion is done at home online.

Explain and demonstrate proper instrument transfer

Demonstrate the characteristics of a professional dental assistant

Demonstrate proper technique for taking and mounting dental radiographs

Take preliminary and alginate impressions and pour diagnostic models

Fabricate bleaching trays and temporary crowns

Accurately review medical histories and assist with electronic charting

Identify and assist with basic restorative and composite procedures
FAQ's
Q: How long is the program and when are classes held?
A: The program is 8 weeks long, with in-person classes every Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Lectures are completed online at your own pace during the week.
Q: Will I be a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) after completing the program?
A: You will earn a Radiology License approved by the state of Ohio and be fully prepared for entry-level dental assisting positions. However, becoming a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) requires passing the national DANB exam, or the State specific certification exam which has additional requirements. We’ll guide you on how to pursue that path if desired.
Q: Is job placement support included?
A: Yes! Graduates receive ongoing access to our exclusive job board, where local dental offices post openings specifically for our students.
Q: How soon can I start working after I graduate?
A: Many students begin applying for jobs immediately after completing the program, and some are hired even before graduation.
