COURSE INFORMATION

Columbus Dental Assisting Course Overview

This course is designed to provide an introduction to the profession of dental assisting, covering topics including Ohio law and ethics, dental terminology, head and neck anatomy,  infection control procedures, proper use and care of dental instruments and equipment, dental materials, dental specialties, and radiology.

Our facility is held in a fully functioning renowned dental office. Here our students will have exposure to an in house dental laboratory, 3D printing lab, as well as 11 operatories, and a whole lecture facility, where the biggest study club for dentists all over Columbus house speakers for continuing education.

We have transitioned our previous 11-week course into an 8-week course by moving all of our lectures online to be completed on your own time through the week from the comfort of your own home. Our in-class days are 8-hours of full hands-on training.

Combined we have over 20 years of experience in the field as an Assistant and an EFDA.  We have managed and run large multi-group Practices for years! We don’t want to just train you by the book, with information and old techniques you will never use, but modern, and real-life applicable training that you will need when you start your first job!

Our Mission

It is our mission to teach and train students with the skills necessary to pursue a career in Dental Assisting.   We provide ample lecture time as well as hands-on experience, supported by a strong curriculum. Our knowledgeable and professional staff will help inspire and educate our students.

Classroom and Laboratory Work

Students will apply topics covered in the classroom portion of the course in a supervised lab setting.  In the 8-week course, there is a total of 40 hours of lecture- completed independently online and 68 hours of laboratory hands-on training, lecture portion is done at home online.

Class Size

With a maximum of 15 students, our small class size allows for more personalized attention and extensive hands-on training.

Radiology License

Students will sit for an Ohio approved Radiology class to receive radiology licensure.

Course Schedule

The course runs for 8 weeks, offered 3 times a year,

Classes are every Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with a half-hour lunch break. In-person classes will focus on hands-on clinical training. Class lectures are completed online on your own time.

Tuition Payment Schedule

Cancellation Policy

Students have up to five calendar days after registering, to cancel enrollment. The registration fee will not be refunded. Any tuition refunds will be received within 30 days of official withdrawal.  In case of severe illness or accident, or other circumstances, both parties will come to a fair reimbursement agreement. Full reimbursement will be given if the program is discontinued and students cannot complete it, or if the course is postponed.

Refund Policy

If the student is not accepted into the training program, all monies paid by the student shall be refunded.  Refunds for books, supplies and consumable fees shall be made in accordance with Ohio Administrative Code section 3332-1-10.1.

INSTRUCTORS

Experience and Passion

Lauren and Kendra’s passion for dentistry combined with their vast experience in training new dental assistants over the years led them to create this program, giving men and women in all stages of life the opportunity to start a wonderful and rewarding career in the dental field.

Lauren Olding

Lauren Olding is the co-owner and co-founder of Columbus Dental Assisting. Lauren has been in the dental field for over 11 years. She started as a dental assistant, and then went on to get her Expanded Functions license. Since 2012, Lauren has been the clinical director for a multi-million dollar dental group in the central Ohio area, and has also continued to practice as an EFDA. She has experience in general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery. She has always felt she can make an impact on the lives of the students pursuing dental assisting in a positive and educational way. 

Kendra Kundert

Kendra Kundert is the co-owner and co-founder of Columbus Dental Assisting and has been in the dental field for over 8 years. She started out at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, working closely with all of the dental students there. Although it provided extensive networking, Kendra really wanted to get involved in private practice. Since 2013, Kendra has been working for a large multi-office company as an Assistant Clinical Supervisor, Inventory control manager, as well as continuing her dental assisting career.  As Assistant Clinical Supervisor, she aided in training on boarding dental assistants, many of whom were new program graduates.
