Program DescriptionColumbus Dental Assisting Program Description
This course is designed to provide an introduction to the profession of dental assisting. The didactic portion will cover topics including Ohio law and ethics, dental terminology, head and neck anatomy, infection control procedures, proper use and care of dental instruments and equipment, dental materials, dental specialties, and radiology. Students will apply topics covered in the didactic portion of the course in a supervised lab setting. They will also sit for the Ohio approved Radiology class to receive radiology licensure. Total of 40 hours of lecture- completed independently online and 68 hours of laboratory hands-on training, lecture portion is done at home online.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will have the ability to:
*Identify the members of the dental health team
*Understand the ethical and legal issues affecting the dental health team *Demonstrate proper infection control procedures
*Identify dental handpieces and instruments
*Demonstrate knowledge of dental charting
*Demonstrate proper use and care of dental instruments
*Understand basic dental terminology
*Understand basic pharmacology and how it pertains to dental patients
*Describe and demonstrate how to prepare the dental treatment area for the patient’s arrival and discuss the importance of this preparation
*Demonstrate proper moisture control techniques
*Describe and demonstrate how the operator and dental assistant are positioned during treatment
*Explain and demonstrate proper instrument transfer
*Position and expose digital dental radiographs
*Understand the different dental specialties
*Demonstrate the characteristic of a professional dental assistant

Course Schedule
The course runs for 8 weeks, offered 3 times a year,
Classes are every Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with a half-hour lunch break. In-person classes will focus on hands-on clinical training. Class lectures are completed online on your own time.

Total Cost $3,350
Tuition Payment Schedule
All Payments are due in full, prior to course beginning, or by the selected payment plan:
Payment Option #1:
- $100 due at registration
- $3,250 due on the first week of class
- Total tuition: $3,350
Payment Option #2:
- $100 due at registration
- $1900 due on the first week of class
- $195 weekly payments
- Total Tuition: $3,365
Payment Option #3:
- $100 due at registration
- $410 weekly payments
- Total Tuition: $3,380
Cancellation Policy
Students have up to five calendar days after registering, to cancel enrollment. The registration fee will not be refunded. Any tuition refunds will be received within 30 days of official withdrawal. In case of severe illness or accident, or other circumstances, both parties will come to a fair reimbursement agreement. Full reimbursement will be given if the program is discontinued and students cannot complete it, or if the course is postponed.
Refund Policy
If the student is not accepted into the training program, all monies paid by the student shall be refunded. Refunds for books, supplies and consumable fees shall be made in accordance with Ohio Administrative Code section 3332-1-10.1.
